The glasses are coming along!

So in class on Wednesday, I felt like I learned a lot. I 'm glad we went over coloring because I managed to color different objects different colors without coloring everything else that same color. I made a Nurb sphere and then made a line with the CV curve tool and highlighted an isoparm and then clicked on surfaces - extrude to make the part of the glasses that rests on your ears. I made two of them and then using the rotate tool and by scaling them, i made the glasses sit correctly on the plane and look like glasses. I still have to do more to the computer screen and the monitor. and the keyboard. and there is no mouse and i need to make the cords that connect the glasses to the usb cord and make the camera features on the glasses, but i think i can do a lot of that fairly quickly. i can make the cords the same way i made the ends of the glasses. The mouse might be a little bit difficult to model, but the buttons and things should be fairly simple. I hope!

Glasses

In the last class, I made the frames for the glasses, but i still have to figure out how to make the two pieces that rest on your ears. I also made the front of the computer screen go in by highlighting the faces and extruding them. I feel like it's coming along ok, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to make some of the shapes and pieces because I don't know all of the tools and tricks yet. I feel like if I knew more, I would be done already. But I am enjoying working in Maya.

9/11 class

In class on Monday, while I waited to show my sketches, I figured I would start modeling my idea anyway. If it isn't acceptable for the assignment. That is ok. It's practice.
I used a lot of the tools on the left...like the move tool, and the rotate tool. I don't remember the names of all of them. But i learned how to squish an object, to make it flatter.
I also used the smooth proxy to make a more rounded cube. and i used the CV curve tool and then tried out the bevel to see what that does. It's a lot of trial and error right now. But I'm enjoying it.

camera glasses

I'm really enjoying working in Maya and I feel like I'm picking it up fairly quickly. For the first assignment, I'm thinking of doing a pair of sunglasses or glasses which you can take pictures with. It can act a digital camera. It isn't going to have many functions besides accepting or declining the pictures. The image is going to show up in the left lens so you can decide if you want to keep the picture or not. The capture button is going to be where the right frame meets the part that rests on your ear. the lens will be in the bridge of the glasses, along with a tiny flash. The accept and decline buttons will be on the very back of the part that rests on your ears (on the inside). There will be a little area below the decline button where you can insert a plug that will connect to a flash drive. This will plug into a computer's USB port and as soon as the pictures load, they are erased from the glasses' memory. The glasses will be able to hold a couple pictures and will charge while its plugged into the computer.
